SSC COMBINED GRADUATE LEVEL EXAMINATION

STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION- SSC COMBINED GRADUATE LEVEL EXAMINATION, this is popularly known as SSC CGL. This exam is conducted to recruit staff for various posts in ministries, department, and organizations of the government of India. The whole exam is conducted by the staff selection commission for selecting staff for various posts in Group B and Group C posts.

This is an online standardized test which has General Knowledge Reasoning Quantitative Aptitude and English asked. The purpose of this test to secure job in Government organization conducted annually. The exam is bi-language in English/Hindi.

Structure

  • The Examination has been divided into several tiers which are conducted over different. Days the results are shown for every tier. For a pleasant change previous exams also included an interview tier, but following a government order, interviews have been dispensed off. A computer proficiency test or a skill test was also added as a tier for some posts. The whole exam is divided into the following one.

Tier 1

Preliminary

The tier 1 exam is a written objective multiple-choice exam with a division of 4 section, the exam consists of

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • General Awareness
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • English Comprehension

The exam has 50 marks per section that make it 200 in total. This is an online exam and based on the qualified result from Tier I, qualified candidates can take the Tier II and Tier III exams.

Tier 2

Main Exam

This part is the main exam, this exam consists of written objective multiple choice exam, in four section. This exam consists of Quantitative aptitude, English language, and comprehension, statistics in addition to this General Studies, which is subdivided into finance & accounting, Economics & Governance.

For this exam to qualify one has to qualify the subjects depending upon the type of post they apply specific post require qualifying English and quantitative Aptitude only while some others posts require the qualification in the third and fourth section.

Tier 3

This exam is known as Descriptive paper this is by default pen and paper test in this exam candidates have to do writing in the form of essay writing and letter writing and some type of application writing. Again this exam is bi-language you can do it either in Hindi or English.

Tier 4

This exam is the test for Data Entry skill test/ Computer proficiency test, this exam is newly added this exam is again depended in the position applied.

  • Data entry Speed test: candidates have to write data at the rate of 2000 key in 15 minutes this exam is to check their speed to write data and record maintaining skill, this exam is mainly for the position of Tax assistant.
  • Computer proficiency test this the test in which the candidates are tested for their ability to work with word processing, spreadsheet and making slides.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate to apply for this exam has to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university at the time of applying the candidates should have age higher than 18 and candidate must have not attained the age of 27 years, again the age limits vary depending upon the most you apply for. This exam has a fee of Rs 100. All the women candidates and candidates belonging to a scheduled tribe and scheduled caste, physically handicapped and in addition to this, all Ex-servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from paying the application fee.

Physical Fitness: Physical Fitness is also given but not for all. This fitness requirement is only for inspectors, Examiner, Preventive Officers.

Vacancies

The government has announced that they will hire as many as 2.2 lakh personals from which almost of 70,000 vacancies, will be created in income tax, Excise and Customs Department. An Approx. of 14 lakh students appear for the Exam every year

Exam Preparation

Preparation should be done systematically, must have latest exam pattern in mind the syllabus covers a lot of topics and it essential to choose the right study material. You need to understand the concepts and practice a lot and when you get a hold that you are getting answers to try getting those answers within time limits. First of all, you need to focus on self-study a lot and in addition to this you can join some of the couchings and download previous year question paper to get a hold to exam type and pattern.

Candidates can download their admit card from the official website of SSC this card is all you need your hall ticket/call letter. Make sure that you take this card with you since without this card you will not be allowed to write the exam.

RESULTS

The staff selection commission releases the result of every stage after the compilation of each exam. Anyone can check their results from the official website of SSC, as soon as the results are announced.
